Fomenko

Fomenko is a studio created in early 2024 by Alexandre Chêne (the guy who's currently writing), that aims to produce delicate and thoughtful video games. We’re currently working on our first unannounced game, in which the player will explore a giant labyrinth and learn how to navigate their way out of it.

The game is currently in a pre-production phase, meaning we’re still shaping gameplay mechanics and art direction; however, we’re slowly beginning to glimpse the horizon of what comes next.

I firmly believe in the handmade mindset as the key to achieving well-crafted projects. It’s how I like to work and with whom I want to be surrounded. That’s why, in this studio, we create our own tools and software with great attention to detail. Here, programmers are strong generalists who can jump into any part of the stack, and artists take a broader approach to design and creation.

The studio seeks to balance two things: independence of thought and financial independence. To achieve that, we’re looking for more natural revenue streams, such as selling our games, possibly licensing our tools to others, or assisting third-party studios with our expertise. This also means that we will only scale when necessary, and in a deliberate manner.
